Worx Weed Eater Line Feed Problems

WORX WG168 40-volt Lithium Cordless Grass Trimmer and Edger

Line will not feed. Stays on spool and you have to take trimmer head cover off, remove spool out and manually feed line through eyelet just to have line to trim with. When that piece off line is worn, no more line will advance out of eyelet and you have to repeat over and over. Can you offer a fix or how can I return product?

I've used mine for maybe 10 hrs of run-time. No problem with auto feed except when it was on the fastest speed and I was clearing tough mature goldenrod and bramble stalks. Those times, as you said, I had to open spool and feed more through the hole -- but it was obvious that the string was melting and gluing itself together in spots. On less tough stalks or at medium speed on same stalks that problem did not occur. The tool has always worked properly for less challenging situations - better in fact than any of the other five battery powered ones I've used, especially the line feeding mechanism. (Overall as good as a gas trimmer really).

Most professional and gas trimmers have "bump"" feeders where you bump the trimmer head to advance the line - which works most of the time. I have yet to find an electric that has this same feature. The Worx has a button on the head you press to advance the line, so you don't have to do redo the spool every time. Less than ideal but worked well for the short time I had it.

It is suppose to feed at start each time but I find this is not the case, so I keep an eye on the string and when it starts to get short, I manually advance the string. This is accomplished by press the button on the head while pulling on the string. Each click give you amount 1 inch of string.

I have used my trimmer 4 or 5 times with no problems. The line always feeds out. If you are having this problem I would say the advancing part of the trimmer is defective and needs to be replaced by the company that manufactured it. When you get the trimmer there is a waranty card or you can fill one out online to complete the waranty. Worx should stand behind their product and replace it.

No, this does not have an autofeed. When the line gets too short, you have to push the orange button on the line holder and gently pull the line out, push the button again, pull a little bit of line out until it stops, push the button again, pull the line out until it stops until you get the correct amount of line out… see more No, this does not have an autofeed. If the line breaks at the spool opening, you can use needle nose pliers to pull it out and push the little orange button at the same time. If that doesn't work, then you will have to take the spool off and feed it through the hole again. Sometimes the line may break if you accidentally get too close to a stake or rebar stake and it wraps around the stake while weedeating, then it may break off at the spool. see less No, this does not have an autofeed. Never had this problem. The tooth side of the spool must be inserted first, if not turn the spool over. If this is not the problem, then I would say the unit is defective

how do you get the string to auto advance on a cordless trimmer

I haven't run across this problem. The first thing I would do is contact WORX directly.
